Vozes Lusófonas
Gathering for middle-aged and elderly from the portuguese-speaking community
Founded in April 2024 by Lalangue Institute, Vozes Lusófonas is a community project that supports the emotional wellbeing of the middle-aged and elderly Portuguese-speaking community in Sydney — who may experience isolation or disconnection. It counts over 80 individuals who have registered and participated at various times. Led by mental health professionals and volunteers from other areas, the group offers monthly gatherings that blend conversation, cultural sharing, and mental health support. Participants engage in reflective discussions, social connection, and activities designed to foster belonging and vitality. The initiative aims to reduce isolation, strengthen community ties, and create a culturally safe space where stories, memories, and emotions can be shared.
